I recently created a new logo for The Old Warehouse in Ely. The Old Warehouse is a group of apartments offering accommodation in the centre of Ely.
The first step was to visit the premises, noting features and what sets The Old Warehouse apart from other accommodations in Ely.
The first thing I noticed was the existing sign painted onto the wall. Using this helped me choose the font for the new logo, as you can see here.
Next, I looked around the apartments, and the dark blue colours of the walls stood out. It was also a similar blue to the logo of Ely Museum which is opposite the apartments.
Using dark blue, I created the colour scheme.
Looking around further, the dual triangular shapes of the roof and the beams were very striking so I wanted to incorporate these into the logo.

Finally, I couldn’t ignore the magnificent view of Ely Cathedral which is situated directly behind The Old Warehouse. I incorporated this into the final logo.
