True fans is enough
for almost any small business

Social media is a campfire. Not a billboard.

A short manifesto on why most small-business social media underperforms — and what changes when you start treating it as a relationship rather than a broadcast.

The follower count is vanity. The number that matters is the number of people who would actually miss you if you stopped posting tomorrow. For most small businesses, that's a few dozen. A few hundred is plenty. A few thousand is rare and remarkable. Anyone selling you the millions is selling you reach you can't convert.

A megaphone is what you reach for when you're standing in a stadium. A campfire is what you reach for when you're among friends. Social media is a campfire — small, warm, specific, attended by people who chose to be there. Posting like a stadium announcer in a campfire-shaped room is why most brands feel hollow online.

A voice that sounds like you is the only durable competitive advantage on a platform where everyone uses the same tools. Templates, AI, scheduling apps — they all level the playing field for everything except tone. A voice that is unmistakably yours can be copied, but never duplicated. So write like a person. To people. About a place.

And consistency, again, beats brilliance. A monthly post that arrives on schedule for two years builds a relationship; ten posts in week one followed by silence builds resentment. Pick a cadence you can sustain. Stick to it. The compounding only happens if you're still posting in month nine.

02 — Non-negotiables
3
Promises on every
social media retainer

Three things you'll always get.

Three commitments on every retainer — the things that distinguish social media that earns its keep from social media that fills a content calendar and produces nothing else.

01

A voice that sounds like you.

The voice document is written first. Sample posts in your tone. The way you greet people. The kind of jokes you tell, the kind you don't. Every post is then written to that voice — by a human, not a template.

01
02

A schedule that compounds.

Consistency over virality. A cadence we can sustain — typically 2–3 posts a week — published on the same days, in the same format, until the audience starts expecting you. Boring is, again, a feature.

02
03

Local first.

Most small businesses don't need a national following. They need to win their high street, their county, their commute. We post about Ely, Cambridge, Newmarket — by name — because that's where your customers actually live.

A complete social operation, run quietly.

Working parts
of every retainer

What's in the retainer.

A social media retainer from this studio is a complete operation — strategy, voice, content, scheduling, replies, and a monthly review of what's actually working. Pick one channel or three. We won't sell you a fourth you don't need.

01Channel strategy.A short written plan: which platform you actually need to be on, who your audience is there, what kind of content fits, and how often. Most small businesses need fewer channels, not more.
02A voice document. The way you sound, on the page. Sample greetings, sample sign-offs, the words you use, the words you'd never. Used by every post, every reply, every caption. Written in a single document you can hand to anyone.
03Content calendar.Monthly content plan published in a shared document. Themes, formats, posting dates, draft captions. Reviewed by you in advance — no posts go up that you haven't seen.
04Visuals & captions.Image and video editing using your existing photography or templates. Captions written for the platform, in your voice, with proper hooks, line breaks, and call-to-action. No stock photos.
05Scheduling & posting.Posts scheduled with Buffer or Later, going live on agreed days and times. Published on a sustainable cadence — typically 2–3 posts per channel per week.
06Replies & engagement.Comments, DMs and mentions monitored daily on weekdays. Routine replies handled in your voice; questions about quotes, prices or projects flagged to you the same day.
07A monthly report.Plain English: what was posted, what got the most attention, what got bookmarked, what's landing with your audience, what to do more of next month. First working day of every month.
04 — Process
From silent to dependable.

Until the cadence
starts compounding

Four steps. Then patience.

Social media is a long game played one post at a time. The first month is foundation. The second is rhythm. The third is when you stop having to think about it — because the cadence is doing the thinking for you.

i.

Discover

Week 1

An audit of your current channels, your audience, your tone, your competitors. We agree which channels are worth the investment — and which are politely ignored.

ii.

Voice

Week 2

The voice document is written and signed off. Sample posts in your tone. We agree the kinds of content you're comfortable putting out, and the kinds you're not.

iii.

Run

Month 1 onwards

The monthly cadence begins. Calendar published the last week of each month for the next. Posts scheduled, published, monitored. Replies handled on weekdays.

iv.

Adjust

Every 90 days

A 60-minute review of what's working, what's not, and what to test next. Cadence, format and tone are tuned based on real data — not what worked for someone else.

I would highly recommend Adam. We were looking for a website refresh and he came up with some great ideas and made the whole process very straightforward. Very happy with the new website.

Social media, plainly answered.

The questions every first call about social media starts with — including the ones about TikTok, going viral, and whether anyone is paying attention any more.

How much does social media management cost?+
Single-channel retainers start at £550/month for one platform with a sustainable cadence. Two-channel retainers from £950/month. Three-channel from £1,250/month. There is no setup fee, no minimum contract — just a 30-day notice on either side.
Which platform should I be on?+
Depends entirely on where your customers actually are. B2C local — usually Instagram and Facebook. B2B — usually LinkedIn. Visual product — Instagram and possibly TikTok. We pick channels based on your audience, not on what's trending.
Will the posts actually sound like me?+
Yes — that's the whole point. The voice document is written before any post is. We capture how you actually speak, including the things you'd never say. Every post is reviewed by you before it goes live, and the voice is refined over the first three months until it's indistinguishable from you writing it yourself.
Do you use AI to write posts?+
Captions are written by hand, in your voice. AI is occasionally useful for first-draft brainstorming or hashtag research, but every published word is written or rewritten by a human. Generic AI captions are why most brand social feels hollow.
Can you take my photos too?+
Most clients use their own photography or have it taken on a regular shoot. If you don't, I can arrange a Cambridgeshire photographer at cost — or build a system where your phone photos can be turned into on-brand posts using templates.
What about going viral?+
Don't aim for it. Virality is a lottery ticket — fun if you win, irrelevant if you don't. The goal is a relationship — a small audience that actually buys, returns, and tells their friends. Viral hits don't convert; relationships do.
