Three things you can count on

  • One person plans it, writes it and answers your email.
  • A plain-English report every month, no dashboards to decode.
  • Your accounts, your lists, your data. You keep them if you leave.

What you get

A whole marketing operation, run by one person, sized to your business.

Strategy, content, email, ads, the numbers, and the meeting where we decide what to do next. You pick the parts that fit. I’ll not sell you a channel you don’t need.

Most marketing is beautifully shot and says nothing. Getting the words right first is the actual work.

i.A written planWho you’re for, what you stand for, what you sell and what you do not, and the small handful of channels you can win on. Reviewed every quarter.
ii.Content that earns its placeOne useful long-form piece a month, usually answering a real question your customers ask. Written to be read and shared, not stuffed with keywords.
iii.Email marketingMonthly emails people actually open, plus list growth and simple automation. Mailchimp, Klaviyo or Kit, whichever fits how you work.
iv.Paid ads, when they make senseGoogle, Meta or LinkedIn ads when there’s something genuinely worth paying to put in front of people. Tested small first, scaled only when the sums work. Spend at cost, no markup.
v.The numbers, joined upAnalytics, Search Console and ad platform data pulled together into one short monthly report: what changed, what worked, what to do next.
vi.A review every quarterNinety minutes, every three months. We look at the numbers and what has changed in your business, keep what is working, drop what is not, and pick the next thing to try.

Recent work

Three businesses where the website and the marketing were built together.

A website is where marketing sends people. When the same person builds both, the two pull in the same direction from day one.

“He came up with some great ideas and made the whole process very straightforward.”Emma Smith, Xpert Resourcing

How it works

Four stages, from a written plan to a monthly rhythm.

Marketing is a habit, not a campaign. The first ninety days get the foundations right; after that it’s the same good work, on schedule, for as long as it keeps paying.

The first month is the slowest. By the third you can feel it. By the sixth, so can your competitors.

i.

Discover

Weeks 1 to 2

An honest look at what you sell, who buys it, where they spend their time and who you’re up against. You get a written plan for the next twelve months to sign off.

ii.

Build

Weeks 3 to 6

Tracking, email set-up, ad accounts in your name, a content calendar and a short note on your tone of voice. The unglamorous work that makes the next nine months measurable.

iii.

Run

Month 2 onwards

Content out, email out, ads running where they earn their place, numbers checked and adjusted. A short report lands on the first working day of every month.

iv.

Review

Every 90 days

Ninety minutes together. What worked, what did not, what has changed in your business, and what we try next.

Common questions

Before you ask.

The questions that start most first calls about marketing, including the ones about cost, timing and why agencies so often disappoint.

Want a second opinion first? Email enquiries@lordknows.co.uk with your web address and I’ll send back a few honest thoughts within a couple of days.
How much should a small business spend on marketing?
A rough rule of thumb is five to ten per cent of turnover for an established business, and more if you’re trying to grow quickly. Retainers here start at £750 a month for a small local business and go up to about £2,500 a month for a programme across several channels. Ad spend is separate, goes through your own account and is never marked up.
How long until I see results?
Email and paid ads can show real numbers within 30 to 60 days. Content and search take three to six months to start building on themselves. Most clients are still with me a year in, because by then the numbers make the case on their own.
Do you do social media?
Yes. There is a dedicated social media management retainer, or it can sit inside a wider marketing plan. Social on its own is rarely the answer; social as one channel among several usually is.
Will you run my Google Ads or Meta ads?
Yes, when the sums add up. Most small businesses spend too little on the channels people have chosen to hear from (email, content, search) and too much on ads. I’ll be honest about the order to do things in. Spend goes through your account, not mine, so you can see every penny.
Why one person rather than an agency?
Most small businesses don’t need an agency. They need one experienced person who actually does the work. Agencies plan with a senior person and hand the doing to a junior. Here the person who plans it also writes it, ships it and answers your email.
Can I leave?
Any time, with 30 days’ notice. You keep the strategy document, the content calendar, the email lists, the ad accounts and the analytics. It is a service, not a lock-in.
